Vacation Bible School

Coming in Summer 2016:  YUMC to host VBS

The Vacation Bible School program is a cooperative program organized and sponsored by three churches: St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, the First Presbyterian Churchof Yorktown, and Yorktown United Methodist Church.  This Christian development program for the community has been in operation for over 40 years through the generous donations and time commitment of many, many volunteers.  Over 100 teens and youth participate in this 2-week program annually!

Classes for children from preschool (age 3) through grade 6 entering Kindergarten. It is open to everyone. One does not have to be a member of any of the founding churches to attend.  As a matter of fact, one does not have to be affiliated with any church to attend.

After the kids have “grown-up” they are welcomed back to participate as Teen Helpers. Responsibilities for teens include: lots of fun working and playing with the children, delivering snacks and helping teachers in the classroom.

At the end of the session, there is an evening closing ceremony where parents, family and friends attend to celebrate the children.  Children sing and share what they learned during the program – the church steeple is blown off from all the singing and praising the Lord!  A joyous time for all.
